Mezcal has had a long history in Mexico. Made from agave, this was once a highly prized and controlled beverage used in weddings, funeral, births, etc. Anyone drinking it outside of these sanctioned occasions would be severely punished: first offense the person would be ostracized, second offence they would be sacrificed. And you thought NJ had tough drunk driving laws!
Ron Cooper imports the The Guys' favorite Mezcals (from small producers in Oaxaca). He joins them to talk about the history and production of this magical beverage, once thought to be a gift from the gods. These are hand crafted, delicate spirits that go surprisingly well with food.
